God’s character is the benchmark by which all human behavior is measured. God “always acts in a way consistent with the requirements of His character as revealed in His law. He rules His creation with honesty. He keeps His word. He renders to all His creatures  due.” (The Wycliffe Bible Encyclopedia)

“Everything He does is just and fair. He is a faithful God who does no wrong; how just and upright He is!” (Deuteronomy 32:4)

My first’s real test of honesty came just shortly after I got saved and started my first job.  I was overpaid ~11% on first paycheck.  The issue was not that it was so tempting to keep the money by not say anything, but all the effort it would take to correct an error that was no fault of my own.  I drove across town to the main offices of my employer with my pay-stub and showed it to them.  They were so impressed by my honesty, I was told just to keep it.  Now, that was the blessings of God!  I could have keep it and not said anything in hopes that the error would have never be discovered (which was quit possible) but that act of honesty laid out a pathway to blessings that has followed me throughout my life.

“Proverbs … will teach you to develop your mind in the right way. You will learn to do what is right and to be honest and fair.” Proverbs 1:2-3

It is God’s desire for us to walk in fairness, honesty, and integrity, which is just a few of God’s character traits, so that we may live a blessed & victorious life.  We were created in the very image of God (fingers, creativity, a soul…) but it is also God’s desire for us to imitate His character as well.  “God created man in his own likeness. … God blessed them…” (Genesis 1:27-28)
