  • The Old Has Gone, The New Has Come
    • There are just a few days left in 2015 at this point
      • We may see the return of our Savior in 2016
      • How was your 2015, where can we go from here?
    • 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
      • Life with Jesus gave/gives us a new start. All our sin washed away and forgotten.
We have an open future before us and with Jesus help and the power of the Holy Spirit with us daily we are poised for amazing potential.
Without the old load of sin we had been dragging around before we came to Jesus, we can now walk with HIS blessings and creativity in every area of our life.
      • As you look back, are you really pleased with what you accomplished in the various areas of your life? Hopefully for most of us there were some major gains in many areas of our life.
Jesus said the old is gone the new has come. We desire to improve and grow in God’s blessings in every area of our life.

        • Some areas we may need to examine are family and personal relationships, our health, our finances (have we been good stewards), our personal growth in our careers, personal spiritual growth, our personal time with God – in prayer, the Word, in sharing our faith in Jesus.
    • Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
      • We need to know the plan of God for our life. Without His plan it’s like having a new car and not knowing how to drive or maintain it and keep it in great condition.
With Christ, for the first time, we can take control of our own life. We’re no longer a slave to sin.
If we don’t have a plan and know God’s plan for our life, then anyone and anything that comes along can hijack our dreams.
If we don’t know where we are going or where we want to go, how can you get there?
      • It is said, “If you want to make your dreams come true, the first thing you have to do is wake up.”
That goes also for the dreams for your family and Church
      • “One half of knowing what you want is knowing what you must give up before you can get it.”
        • Many times as we examine our lives there are things that we must let go of to get the best that God has for us.
“If you hang around with the turkeys, you will never soar with the eagles.”
      • “It is a scary thought for a person to consider what have I done, compared to what I might have done.”
        • “How am I going to live today in order to create the tomorrow I’m dreaming of?”
  • The Next Level
    • How do we get to the next level?
      • Have mentors – seek wisdom, get input
        Have accountability
    • John 13:15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.
If we put the principles and life style that Jesus modeled into practice in our lives, we will have similar results.
    • John 14:12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in Me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
      • Jesus set the example for us in not only how we should live but also in what we can accomplish when we follow His example and God’s principles.
    • 1 Corinthians 11:1 Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.
      • Paul knew that he was not perfect, but he had decided to follow Jesus wholeheartedly and was not ashamed to encourage others to follow his example. He knew what Jesus had done for him and what grace God had given in his life.
Can we say that to those that look to us with a clear conscience and a straight face?
    • Philippians 3:17 Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do.
      • What are you modeling?
Hollywood is fashion conscious, they also model a lifestyle
I’ve ministered in various prisons on several continents and there is even fashion that springs from prison that has permeated the outside society. Who are we following?
What model are you following? Who do you really look to for counsel and wisdom?
      • Do you allow your mentors to put a demand upon your life?
meet regularly – 1X2 per month minimum
        Follow their Example
        Be an Example
      • Also, invest in others around you – if they rise you rise. As you set a Godly example for others you will grow in your walk with Christ
      • “You can find inspiration from others but determination is solely your responsibility”.
        • Keep learning, keep growing
        • If you’re not learning, you’re falling behind – if you’re not growing. you’re dying
  • Set Goals
    • Great goals require great effort to achieve
      • If you can reach your goal by yourself it probably is not a goal worthy of achieving
Goals that stretch us, but also steps in our goals that are attainable
Our space program did not go first to the moon, it first put a rocket in orbit
    • Habakkuk 2:2 – 1) tells us to write down the vision, 2) make it plain, so you and others can run with it, 3) wait/pursue it (wait = like a waiter in a fine restaurant)
      • Review regularly, then you can tell if you’re making progress
What are Your Goals? No goals – no future for you!
        How can we improve?
How can we improve on what we have accomplished so far?
  • Run With the Dream
    • 1 Corinthians 9:26 So now this is how I run—not without a clear goal in sight. I fight like a boxer in the ring, not like someone who is shadowboxing.
      • The devil knows if we’re just going through the motions, just playing games
    • Philippians 3:14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
      • Self Discipline – we must have self discipline, if we don’t discipline ourselves then others will have to do it for us – that’s why prisons are built
There are no shortcuts to any place worth going
If you don’t have time to do it right, you must have time to do it again
Louisiana culture and – lais•sez-faire, “Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)” – NO, we make life/our future what it is – we must take responsibility
    • Luke 13:31 At that time some Pharisees came to Jesus and said to him, “Leave this place and go somewhere else. Herod wants to kill you.” 32 He replied, “Go tell that fox, ‘I will keep on driving out demons and healing people today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will reach my goal.’
    • It is easy to fall into the religious trap and just go with the flow, just coast, like the Pharisees.
They were not being honest with Jesus and He knew it. Jesus knew His Father’s plan.
HE made it clear that He was determined to keep walking in the plan and knew that He would have the power of the Holy Spirit moving through Him.
Jesus reached the goal, because He did we can!
